Day 27: Pep-talk
This life that you are living is not an insignificant one. I hope you know that. The words you speak hold tremendous value. The feelings that feel heavy – the ones you want to run from – those feelings are valid. I hope you know these things to be true.
I hope you know that tomorrow is new and full of opportunity. I hope you know that there is joy at your fingertips, waiting to be grasped.
The pain that you know is not something you have to face by yourself. You are not alone. Please don’t ever believe that lie.
Don’t believe that you’re not changing people. You are here. You are living, breathing. You are seen and heard and treasured. Yes, the pain is real and, at times, consuming, but it doesn’t have to win. Love is stronger.
Breathe in the humid air and know that this life is a precious gift. Smile when you can, celebrate the stuff nobody celebrates.
Fight with everything inside of you to stay present. Look around you, look up. Turn off your phone and listen to the life going on. Listen to the person sitting before you. Stay a few extra minutes, break the surface-level mold of How are you? Good. Go deeper. Be uncomfortable.
Say yes when someone asks you to jump in backwards. Cry in Starbucks when you feel the tears coming. Don’t be afraid of what others may think. Live in courage.
Be thankful for the good conversations and the nights you laugh so much your throat hurts. Those night you will remember when you’re old and grey and full of stories.
Love big and full and wide and don’t ever stop. Be in-the-mess, in-the-long-haul. It will be worth it.
It will all be worth it.
